* Yes — it’s a little weird to have a website explaining why we want to have 'strangers' over for dinner. Though I learned it helps to have a place to explain this idea.
8 people at 8 is a home cooked dinner with "friends of friends" at our place. Once a month I cook dinner for 7 new people each recommended by someone who themselves attended a dinner.
I have learned 8 people is the perfect size for everyone to get to know each other. While also large enough respectfully also have smaller conversations.
They say everyone is separated by 6 introductions to every other person in the world.
This can be hard to realise when we fall into our everyday routines with time flying by without changing who we meet, and what we spend our time doing. I started these dinners to bring together my friend circles, and it expanded from there.
If you want to join, let our mutual friend know so they can pass on your contact details to me.
It's up to you. If you enjoyed the dinner, chances are you already know someone who might also.
Nothing! I'm cooking us dinner.
Though bringing wine or something else for us to drink at dinner is always welcome.
This website can be used to share this dinner idea with your own guests. I hope more people expand on this, creating their own dinners and breaking routine.
If you do, I would love to hear your experience! Feel free to write me or share your pictures using #8at8.
